  2. 2021 Neighborhood Clean-up Application

    *This program is only available for CBDG Eligible Areas within the City of Lansing. Please refer to the attached map for eligible locations. *

  3. Neighborhood clean-ups are community events sponsored by the Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Engagement. The primary purpose of a neighborhood clean-up is for bulk trash cleanup.

  4. The Department of Neighborhoods and Citizen Engagement is responsible for:

    • Contracting a third-party waste management company who provides a dump truck, driver, and loading person for bulk trash items.

  5. Neighborhood or civic organizations who are interested in facilitating a neighborhood cleanup in a CBDG eligible location (see website for map) are responsible for:

    • Recruiting volunteers • Promoting the event • Having a person responsible for coordinating the event with the department

  6. The neighborhood group or civic organization facilitating the event is responsible to coordinating volunteers to assist differently abled neighbors bring bulk trash items to the curb by 8am the designated day of the event.

    The same day of the event, volunteers are also responsible for cleaning-up litter from designated sidewalks, streets, and railroads. Organizations interested in a litter cleanup or brush cleanup event as opposed to a bulk trash cleanup should contact Erin Buitendorp, Neighborhood Resource Coordinator
